4 Antique oddities animal teeth scrimshaw charms on gold wire alligator, Buffalo
The oddities that the Victorians loved and made actually astound me every time I come across them, these are no different. Here we have animal teeth and some kind of bone that''s been crudely hand carved. It''s my understanding that the teeth are alligator, elk, and possible buffalo. Also there is a piece of bone that has been carved into a dog or bear head, you can even see the holes on the top of the head where ears would have been original placed. The color on the teeth indicates age.
All of these charms were found together in a Victorian jewelry box amongst other Victorian and early Edwardian pieces of jewelry.
This is 100 plus year old folk art and the condition reflects that. If you have any questions or have any information please feel free to message me.
